BLIK for Business

Value of BLIK transactions neared PLN 100 bn in Q1 2025

Between January and March 2025, BLIK users completed a total of 665 m transactions – up 28% in comparison to the previous year. The strongest growth was recorded in contactless payments, which surged by 86% year-on-year to nearly 73 m transactions. Contactless operations at stationary points of sale now account for almost half of all in-store payments with BLIK, underlining the growing importance of this method in everyday shopping. BLIK also continues to strengthen its presence in e-commerce and P2P transfers, maintaining double-digit growth across all key channels.

Online shopping remained the dominant use case, with 325.5 m e-commerce payments made using BLIK (an increase of 23% year-on-year). The total value of these transactions reached PLN 49.5 bn (EUR 11.6 bn), up 31% compared to the same period last year. The average transaction value in this channel was PLN 152 (EUR 35.5), while for BLIK's deferred payment service, BLIK Pay Later, it was significantly higher at PLN 317 (EUR 74.1). Among the top spending categories by transaction value during online shopping were financial services (+55%, with an average payment of PLN 288 [EUR 67.3]), home and garden (+26%, PLN 421 [EUR 98.4]), and fashion (+17%, with an average of PLN 237 [EUR 55.4]).

In e-commerce, we focus on implementing solutions that enhance the convenience of shopping. One such solution is the BLIK Pay Later service, which is growing very dynamically. We’ve observed that the average basket value for deferred payments is significantly higher compared to traditional online transactions. We also see that the availability of flexible payment methods directly translates into better performance for online stores. In the near future, we plan not only to further expand the availability of our 'buy now, pay later' method but also to launch recurring payments, which can significantly support customer retention in subscription models and contribute to the growing popularity of transactions made with BLIK

, says Monika Król, Vice President of Polski Standard Płatności, the operator of BLIK.

Strong growth in POS payments

BLIK payments at payment terminals are also gaining popularity. In Q1 2025, users completed 154.5 million such transactions – a 47% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Nearly half of those were contactless payments, which reached 72.9 m operations with an average value of PLN 58 (EUR 13.5). The highest number of contactless transactions took place in the Masovian, Lower Silesian, Lesser Poland, Greater Poland, and Łódź regions. More and more Poles are also using contactless BLIK abroad – the service has now been used in 161 countries worldwide.

Simplifying everyday payments

BLIK remains an essential tool for fast and convenient money transfers. In Q1 2025, the number of phone numbers registered for receiving BLIK P2P transfers exceeded 18.7 m. During this period, users made 167 m transfers – up 27% year-on-year – with an average value of PLN 166 (EUR 38.8).

Peer-to-peer transfers – regardless of which country users are in or what bank they use – should be simple and instantaneous. That’s our ambition and the direction we’re heading in. We believe P2P interoperability will be one of the key pillars of a future pan-European payments system. Thanks to our collaborative model with banks and our strong market position, BLIK can play a significant role in this process – as a connector between ecosystems and a promoter of European technological independence in finance

, adds Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, CEO of Polski Standard Płatności, the operator of BLIK.

In the same quarter, users also completed 17.6 m ATM transactions (+11% y/y), including 15.2 m cash withdrawals and 2.3 m deposits. The ATM channel had the highest average transaction value at PLN 727 (EUR 168.9).

Growth across all channels

On the most active day of the quarter, BLIK recorded over 11 m transactions. On average, users made 7.4 m payments daily. With 18.9 m active users, each used BLIK approximately 12 times per month. The average transaction value across all channels was PLN 149 (EUR 34.8), and the total value of BLIK transactions in Q1 reached PLN 98.9 bn (EUR 23.1 bn) – a 34% increase compared to Q1 2024.

BLIK’s economic impact

Today, BLIK is not only a key player in the mobile payments market – it is also an increasingly important driver of economic activity. The report 10 Years of BLIK prepared by advisory firm EY confirms the system’s tangible contribution to the Polish economy. According to EY experts, BLIK's operations accounted for 1.2% of Poland’s GDP in 2024 – equivalent to PLN 42 bn (EUR 9.8 bn) in added value. This is comparable to Poles' annual spending on accommodation and tourism services, or to the state’s annual budget for higher education. EY analysts also estimate that if BLIK achieves its goal of doubling transaction value by 2027, its contribution to GDP could rise to 2.1%.

BLIK is a common standard for mobile payments. The option to use BLIK in mobile banking applications is now available to virtually every customer of domestic payment institutions offering a mobile app. The company Polski Standard Płatności (PSP) is responsible for developing the system. PSP continuously enhances BLIK’s functionality to make the system as user-friendly and versatile as possible. The shareholders of PSP are Alior Bank, Millennium Bank, Santander Bank Polska, ING Bank Śląski, mBank, PKO Bank Polski, and Mastercard.
