Polish users will pay with BLIK for accommodation in hotels of the Tatry Mountain Resorts group
Polish tourists can now pay with BLIK for accommodation in the largest resorts in the Slovak Tatras. This is the first result of the announced expansion of the system within the euro area. Thanks to BLIK SK, the company responsible for developing the system on the Slovak market, mobile payments are available in the reservation system of the group Tatry Mountain Resorts (TMR), which manages, among others, hotels in Slovakia, in the Czech Republic and Austria. This is the first implementation of this kind in Slovak e-commerce.
The introduction of this method, in such a large hotel network, allows users from Poland to rely on their daily payment habits when planning foreign trips. Following the recently announced pilot integration with the Slovakian e-commerce market, the solution is now entering the tourism sector directly. From now on, users from Poland who book a stay via the website: tmrhotels.com - will pay for it in euro, using BLIK payments in exactly the same way as they do domestically. The system automatically converts the amount into Polish zloty and displays the final value before the transaction is approved.
We are putting into practice our announcement regarding the availability of BLIK in the euro area – this also symbolically marks the opening of BLIK to this region. The presence in the reservation system TMR constitutes an implementation of significant importance, as it concerns destinations that are frequently chosen by Polish travelers. We demonstrate that the Polish payment standard effectively crosses borders, providing users with convenience and full control over expenses in a foreign currency, while at the same time opening access to more than 21 million users for partners operating in the euro area
– says Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, CEO of Polish Payment Standard.
The transaction processing in the TMR hotels is simple: after selecting accommodation, the user chooses the BLIK icon in the payment methods section. Finally, after entering the 6-digit code on phone and accepting the exchange rate, the funds are transferred to the property’s account and the reservation is confirmed. Going forward, this service will cover all banks in the euro area that implement the Polish system.
BLIK is a common standard for mobile payments. The option to use BLIK in mobile banking applications is now available to virtually every customer of domestic payment institutions offering a mobile app. The company Polski Standard Płatności (PSP) is responsible for developing the system. PSP continuously enhances BLIK’s functionality to make the system as user-friendly and versatile as possible. The shareholders of PSP are Alior Bank, Millennium Bank, Erste Bank Polska, ING Bank Śląski, mBank, PKO Bank Polski, and Mastercard.
