BLIK keeps getting stronger – the value of transactions in the first half of 2025 has already exceeded EUR 47 bn

From January to June 2025, BLIK users completed nearly 1.4 bn transactions in total. This represents an increase of 24 percent compared to the same period last year. The second quarter alone was record-breaking – for the first time in the system’s history, the number of transactions exceeded 700 m. Currently, the fastest growth is observed in in-store BLIK payments, where contactless transactions already account for almost half of all operations carried out with BLIK in this channel. Double-digit growth also continues in e-commerce and in BLIK P2P transfers. At the end of June this year, 19.4 m users were regularly using BLIK.

Between January and March 2025, BLIK users completed a total of 665 m transactions – up 28% in comparison to the previous year. The strongest growth was recorded in contactless payments, which surged by 86% year-on-year to nearly 73 m transactions. Contactless operations at stationary points of sale now account for almost half of all in-store payments with BLIK, underlining the growing importance of this method in everyday shopping. BLIK also continues to strengthen its presence in e-commerce and P2P transfers, maintaining double-digit growth across all key channels.

Over the past decade, BLIK has not only revolutionized the way people pay in Poland but has also significantly contributed to the country’s economic development. According to the report "10 Years of BLIK", prepared by advisory firm EY, by the end of 2024, 11% of household consumption in Poland was carried out using BLIK, and the system’s operations supported the generation of PLN 42 bn (EUR 10 bn) in added value to the economy. The authors of the report emphasize that thanks to its versatility, convenience, and security, BLIK has developed at an impressive pace, supporting a broad range of transactions and related economic activity – particularly in e-commerce.

Over 2.4 bn BLIK transactions in 2024 and 7 bn in 10 years

BLIK has just turned ten and is now one of the most widely used payment methods in Poland. Over the past decade, users have completed 7 bn transactions, with their total value approaching one trillion PLN. The year 2024 was another record-breaking period – the number of transactions exceeded 2.4 bn, marking a 37% year-on-year increase, while their total value reached PLN 347.3 bn (83.4 bn EUR, +43% y/y). This means that in 2024 alone, BLIK users carried out more than half of all transactions made in the previous nine years combined.

BLIK contactless payments have gained immense popularity among Android users. Soon, iOS device owners will also be able to access this functionality on their phones. The work to introduce the service is at an advanced stage – the technology has already been provided to banks, and its implementation in mobile applications is scheduled for next year.

Between July and September 2024, BLIK users conducted 625.5 million transactions worth EUR 20.6 billion (PLN 89.4 bn). By the end of the third quarter, 17.4 million people were actively using the solution. During the analyzed period, the largest increase in transactions was observed in the POS channel, with Poles using the service over 164 million times. Nearly half of these transactions were made through BLIK contactless payments.

BLIK Romania, registered in Bucharest, has obtained authorization for the operation of the BLIK payment system. This decision will enable the development of this system in local currency (RON) and open it to Romanian payment service providers. As a first step, the operator plans to focus on the development of payments in the e-commerce channel, thus responding to the dynamic growth of the online sector in Romania.
